Above, a 27 year old artist, who comes from his two "hippie" parents has been drawing since he is able to hold a crayon. His work isn't only the work of a visual spray paint artist, as he uses to document his spray paints on video and put them on the internet this is also a video-art experience because all films are guided by comments and great soundtracks… With his strong affection for 4 letter words and WORD/PLAYS he left marks of his works in meanwhile nearly more than 50 cities all over EUROPE, USA & SOUTH –CENTRAL Americas, by painting murals with his witty Word/Plays and installing up thousands of Wooden "ARROW MOBILES" from overhead wires above city streets. Painted in each side of the Arrow Mobiles is a 4-letter word, always related to the environment in which they are spinning. When each Arrow Mobile spins around there is a silent form of communication created in a form similar to SIGN LANGUAGE.

This Article is a simple rational appeal to join a fundraise campaign were ABOVE will donate 100% of all his profits from the sale of his "GIVING TO THE POOR" print to 2 selected homeless shelters. A project born out of artwork and spread around by artwork… screamed over a large distance in the hope to find people who listen and care, fueled by … the search for the truth… the hate to hide the truth… the displeasure to cherish that all is right and the hope that even some haven't still lost their appreciation and flaming love to see what is to see and to name the things that are seen instead of denying….. And for this: Using language, play with language and to ante this great instrument… given to human beings in a sense full way… in the artistic way… in a political way. Sure the entitled question might be now: “Why supporting a fundraising campaign for the less fortune on a culture Magazine?”

Indeed the first intention was an interview but while connecting with ABOVE he told me about his current project. Music, Arts, Theatre, Writing, Comics and Dance are beautiful and wide spaces and very useful tools to set signs and wake up with raised voices towards facts that are going wrong in our society. This campaign of ABOVE is a very nice example for what can be done, so we thought that Independent free press portal could be maybe a good place not to speak only about art & culture how it is done and how it is developed, independent free press portal can also be a place to show art in a social and demanding way of people who do arts in a political and humanistic way… What we can and what we want to do is: Disturbing a bit with art… in the hope to move at least some small things in a better direction…

SA: Speak about your work... why you decided now to bring out this project
ABOVE: "Recently completing the 6-month long South Central tour's witty Word/Play paintings thru South and Central Americas my focus has taken a healthy transition towards figurative imagery. These new stencil works are universally understood and free from language barriers that often get lost in translation. When I was in Lisbon, Portugal 3 months ago I would walk by this homeless lady who was begging for money every day. I found it sadly ironic that just 6 feet away there was an ATM machine where people were literally lining up to withdraw money. With an obvious visual clash of "Rich" and "Poor" being in such a close proximity evoked me to make this stencil "Stealing from the rich, and giving to the poor." Although I have been offered a handful of opportunities to exhibit inside "High/End" Galleries from around the world, I still find my passion and interests in putting my artworks in the streets. Being an artist to me is not only about the final completed piece, but the process and journey from initial conception of an idea to the final stages that is the charm. The people met along the way, the different cities and countries visited, the fact that the streets are untamed and beautifully ugly, the situations (both positive/negative) from putting artworks illegally in the streets are the attraction for me. Most people will not understand this, but this is okay. To each their own

SA: some thoughts about current situation of rich and poor in this world
ABOVE: I think that the world will always have wealthy and poor people mixed in. However I don't think that we can't help and get involved those without the resources and opportunities to better themselves if they want to. Not everyone that is "Poor" is a bad person. There are a lot of families and people that are below the "Poverty" line that just don't have enough resources or aid to help them improve.

SA: some about your view on current political situation in your country
ABOVE: My girlfriend and I both said that if McCain won in the Presidential race that we would move out of the USA for the 4 years he would serve. It is a HUGE statement and growth that the United States was able to wake up and elect someone like Obama that is human, and has goals and desires to pick up the mess that other presidents have left behind. It's going to be a very long road to recovery but there is lots of optimism in the air for the future.

SA: social situation of poor
ABOVE: I don't know the exact statistic off the top of my head but I do see it every day whenever I go somewhere that there is a lot of people in need of help and assistance. In almost every city over 50,000+ people you can find a SOUP KITCHEN (that gives and cooks food to the homeless) as well as a homeless shelter for people without a bed/home to come sleep in. I think as a city/community it would be great if more people would offer and take part in getting involved either with donating their time, assistance, money or food.

SA: Workless and all those who have not a voice
ABOVE: I feel like as an artist I was able to comment about this social clash through the stencil piece I painted on the wall there in Lisbon, Portugal. As a human I felt compelled to take it to a next step and get involved with making a Giclee print from the photo and fundraising 100% of all the profits to 2 selected homeless shelters! This photo and print is amazing with the composition, facial expressions and visual commentary! Hopefully many people will get involved with this benevolent project and help the homeless as well as get a beautiful print to put on their walls to remind them of how life can be beautifully ugly at times. ABOVE: In a concept similar to "Robin Hood" I am taking an active role in helping those less fortunate. I have carefully selected these Homeless shelters because of each of their long-standing active role in the Homeless community. Each respective Homeless shelter stands out among others because they accept and strive to help those without a home regardless of RELIGION, RACE, POLITICS or SEXUAL PREFERENCE.

Above... 27, stammt von seinen “Hippie”- Eltern ab und zeichnet seitdem er in der Lage ist einen Stift in der Hand zu halten. Seine Arbeit ist nicht allein die eines Graffiti Künstlers, weil er seine Werke auch alle selbst Filmt, die Videos, belgeitet von sinnigen Kommentaren und untermalt von guter Musik, ins Internet stellt, kann man durch ihn auch Video Kunst erfahren.

Mit seiner ausgeprägten Leidenschaft für 4- Buchstaben- Wörter hat er mittlerer weile seine Spuren in mehr als 50 Städten EUROPA's, USA, ZENTRAL – und SÜDAMERKIA's hinterlassen. Wände mit geisteichen Wortspielen bemalt und tausende von hölzernen PFEIL- MOBILES an städtischen Überspannungsleitungen angebracht, alle Mobiles sind auf beiden Seiten mit einem Wort aus 4 Buchstaben versehen und beziehen sich grundsätzlich auf die jeweilige Umgebung in der sie sich fliegend drehen. Am Ende ist dieser Artikel aber nichts weiter als ein simpler und nüchterner Aufruf sich an einer Wohltätigkeitsaktion zu beteiligen. ABOVE spendet allen Profit den er durch den Verkauf seiner „GIVING TO THE POOR“ Drucke erzielt an zwei Obdachlosen- Einrichtungen. Ein Hilfsprojekt ,geboren aus Kunst … das sich über die Kunst verbreitet… ein Aufruf über eine große Distanz hinweg an Menschen die zuhören und sich interessieren, angetrieben durch die Suche nach der Wahrheit… dem Unmut die Wahrheit zu verstecken… dem Grimm über die Illusion alles sei in Ordnung… und der Hoffnung dass wenigsten ein paar Ihre Hingabe und Liebe dafür noch nicht verloren haben zu sehen was zu sehen ist und die Dinge bei Ihrem Namen zu nennen… anstelle sie zu ignorieren und zu verleugnen… Und dafür: Sprache einsetzen, mit Sprache spielen und dieses einzigartige Instrument das Menschen zur Verfügung steht… sinnvoll… kunstvoll und politisch einsetzen…Sicherlich stellt sich hier nun die berechtigte Frage: „Warum soll man in einem Kulturmagazin ein Hilfsprojekt protegieren?“

Tatsächlich war die erste Idee ein Interview, aber während unserem Kontakt hat mir ABOVE von seinem aktuellen Vorhaben erzählt. Musik, Kunst, Theater, Literatur und Tanz sind wunderbare, weitreichende Wirkungskreise und vor allem sehr nützliche Werkzeuge um Zeichen zu setzten, mit erhobenen Stimmen; und Aufzurütteln, gegen die Dinge die in unseren Gesellschaften falsch laufen. Die Kampagne von ABOVE ist ein feinsinniges Beispiel dafür was man tun kann, also haben wir uns gedacht das das Portal eines freien unabhängigen Magazins vielleicht der richtige Ort sein könnte um nicht nur über die Entstehung; Umsetzung und Entwicklung von Kunst & Kultur zu sprechen, das Portal eines solchen Magazins kann vielleicht auch ein Ort sein an dem Kunst auf soziale und anspruchsvolle Weise präsentiert wird von Leuten die Kunst auf politische und humanistische Art gestalten… Was wir können und wollen ist: Durch Kunst stören…. in der Hoffnung die Dinge dadurch wenigstens im Kleinen in eine bessere Richtung zu lenken.

SA: Sprich über Deine Arbeit… was hat Dich dazu bewogen jetzt eine solche Aktion zu starten?
ABOVE: Erst vor kurzem habe ich meine 6- monatige Reise durch Zentral und Südamerika beendet, auf der ich all diese witzigen und geistreichen Wortspiele gemalt habe, während dieser Reise hat mein Blickwinkel eine sehr gesunde Veränderung hinsichtlich der bildlichen Symbolik angenommen. Die neuen Stencil- Arbeiten sprechen eine universelle Sprache und sind frei von jeglichen Barrieren… wie sie entstehen können wenn man sich in Übersetzungen verliert. Als ich vor 3 Monaten in Lissabon, Portugal war bin ich jeden Tag an dieser obdachlosen Dame vorbeigekommen die um Geld gebettelt hat. Ich fand es traurig und ironisch zugleich das sich nur 6 Schritte von ihr entfernt ein Bankautomat befand an dem die Leute in einer Reihe anstanden um Geld abzuheben. Dieses offensichtliche Zusammentreffen von „Arm“ und „Reich“ auf so engem Raum hat mich dazu bewogen diesen Stencil zu sprühen: „Den Reichen stehlen, den Armen geben“. Obwohl ich schon eine Handvoll Möglichkeiten hatte in Galerien der obersten Kategorie auf der ganzen Welt auszustellen, finde ich doch nach wie vor meine Leidenschaft und mein Interesse darin meine Kunst in den Straßen anzubringen. Künstler zu sein bedeutet für mich nicht das vollendete Werk, sondern der Prozess und der Weg von der anfänglichen Konzeption einer Idee bis hin zu den letzten Schritten sind die Dinge die den Charme ausmachen. Die Menschen die ich unterwegs treffe, die verschiedenen Städte und Länder sie ich besucht habe, die Tatsache das die Straßen so wild und ganz schön hässlich sind, die Situationen in die ich gerate (gute wie schlechte) wenn ich meine Arbeiten illegal in den Straßen anbringe, dass ist für mich der Reiz daran. Die meisten Leute werden das nicht verstehen, aber OK. Jedem das seine.

SA: Gedanken über die momentane Situation von Arm und Reich auf der Welt
ABOVE: Ich glaube dass es auf der Welt immer eine Mischung aus Wohlhabenden und Armen geben wird. Wie auch immer, jedenfalls denke ich dass wir denen die ihre Situation verbessern möchten nicht helfen können, ohne uns zu engagieren und ohne die dafür nötigen Mittel. Nicht jeder „Arme“ ist auch ein schlechter Mensch. Es gibt so viele Familien und Leute die unterhalb der „Armutsgrenze“ leben nur weil Sie nicht über die ausreichenden Mittel und die nötige Unterstützung verfügen um ihre Situation zu verbessern.

SA: Deine Einstellung zu aktuellen politischen Situation in Deinem Land
ABOVE: Wir beide, meine Freundin und ich haben gesagt, dass im Fall McCain die Präsidentschaftswahlen gewinnt wir die USA für die 4 Jahre in denen er das Land regiert verlassen werden. Es ist eine gewaltige Aussage und ein riesiger Fortschritt das die Vereinigten Staaten jemanden wie Obama gewählt haben, einen der menschlich ist, Ziele hat und den Wunsch die Schweinereien die die vorangegangen Präsidenten hinterlassen haben anzupacken. Es wird ein langer Weg bis sich das Land wieder erholt hat, aber es liegt eine Menge Zukunftsoptimismus in der Luft.

SA: Die Situation von Arm und Reich
ABOVE: Die genaue Statistik habe ich nicht im Kopf. Aber wann immer ich irgendwohin gehe sehe ich das es so viele Menschen gibt die Hilfe und Unterstützung benötigen. In fast jeder Stadt mit mehr als 50.000 Einwohnern gibt es mittlerer weile SUPPENKÜCHEN (die Essen für Obdachlose kochen und verteilen) und Obdachlosenheime für diejenigen die kein Bett zum schlafen und kein Zuhause haben. Ich denke es wäre eine tolle Sache als oder für die Städtischen- / Gemeinschaften wenn sich mehr Leute engagieren, indem sie ihre Zeit, ihre Unterstützung, Geld oder Essen spenden.

SA: Diejenigen ohne Arbeit und diejenigen die kein Gehör finden
ABOVE: Ich habe das Gefühl das ich als Künstler dieses Zusammentreffen von arm und reich kommentieren kann indem einen Stencil Sprühe wie ich ihn in Lissabon gemalt habe. Als Mensch jedoch fühle ich mich dazu verpflichtet einen Schritt weiter zu gehen und mich zu engagieren in dem ich Drucke von diesem Foto verkaufe und die gesamten 100% aus dem Erlös an Obdachlosenunterkünfte spende ! Das Foto und der Druck verblüffen durch ihre Komposition, die Mimik und den visuellen Kommentar! Hoffentlich beteiligen sich viele Leute an diesem Projekt, helfen Obdachlosen und bekommen obendrauf einen schönen Druck den sie sich an die Wand hängen können und der sie immer wieder aufs Neue daran erinnert das das Leben von Zeit zu Zeit auch ganz schön hässlich sein kann. ENGARIERT EUCH!

SA: Das Projekt
ABOVE: Vergleichbar mit dem Plan von “ROBIN HOOD” nehme ich eine aktive Rolle ein um den vom Leben weniger begünstigten zu helfen. Ich verkaufe den Druck von „GIVING TO THE POOR“ zu einem erschwinglichen Preis in der Hoffnung dass sich so viele Leute wie möglich an diesem Hilfsprojekt beteiligen und spende die gesamten 100% vom erzielten Erlös an zwei ausgesuchte Obdachlosenheime. Ich habe diese Einrichtungen sehr sorgfältig ausgesucht und mich für sie entschieden weil beide seit langem eine aktive Rolle in der Gemeinschaft der Heimatlosen spielen. Jede der beiden Einrichtung hebt sich von anderen dadurch ab weil sie sich bemühen denen zu Helfen die kein Zuhause haben und zwar völlig unabhängig ihrer RELIGION, HERKUNFT, POLITISCHEN- oder SEXUELLEN ORIENTIERUNG.

Above, un artista di 27 anni, nato da due genitori “hippie” che disegna da quando è in grado di tenere in mano una matita.
Il suo lavoro non è solo quello di un artista visivo che fa i "murales"; visto che è solito documentare i suoi lavori con dei video che poi condivide su Internet, la sua è anche un'esperienza di video-artist, anche perché i suoi video sono accompagnati da commenti e da ottime colonne sonore... Con la sua fissazione per i vocaboli di 4 lettere ed i giochi di parole ha lasciato traccia del suo lavoro in poco più di 50 città in giro per l'Europa, gli Stati Uniti, l'America centrale e del sud, dipingendo ed installando migliaia di "FRECCE MOBILI" sui fili che passano sopra le strade cittadine. Dipinta sulla "Freccia Mobile" c'e' una parola di 4 lettere, correlata con l'ambiente in cui questa sta girando. Quando ogni freccia gira intorno si crea una comunicazione silenziosa in una forma simile al Linguaggio dei segni.

Quest'articolo è anche un appello a partecipare alla campagna di finanziamento in cui ABOVE donerà il 100% dei suoi profitti ricavati dalla vendita della sua stampa "Giving to the poor" a due strutture-rifugio per senzatetto. Un progetto nato dall'arte e diffuso attraverso l'arte... urlato su grandi distanze nella speranza di trovare gente che ascolti e si interessi, stimolata dalla ricerca della verità e dal rifiuto di nascondere la realtà... il dispiacere di credere che tutto vada bene... la speranza che almeno alcuni non abbiano ancora perso la capacità di apprezzare ed l'amore sincero per la verità, per ciò che deve essere visto e la capacità di dare alle cose viste un nome invece di negarle...
E per questo: usiamo il linguaggio, giochiamo col linguaggio, rilanciamo questo grande strumento... dato agli esseri umani in un modo pieno... artistico... politico.
Sicuramente il problema potrebbe essere posto così: “Perché sostenere una campagna di raccolta di fondi per i meno fortunati su una rivista culturale?”

Sicuramente la prima intenzione era una intervista ma quando ho contattato ABOVE lui mi ha parlato del suo attuale progetto. Musica, Arte,Teatro, Scrittura, Fumetto, Danza sono campi ampi, belli e sono anche utili strumenti per tracciare segni e scuotere il pubblico facendo sentire la propria voce sui fatti che non vanno nella nostra società. La campagna di ABOVE è un esempio molto simpatico di ciò che può essere fatto da un artista e così ho pensato che un portale di stampa indipendente potesse essere forse un luogo opportuno non solo per parlare d'arte e cultura, ma anche un contesto adatto per mostrare il "modo sociale" in cui le persone che fanno arte: politicamente ed umanamente... Ciò che questi artisti cercano di fare è scuotere un po' le coscienze... nella speranza di far sì che almeno alcune piccole cose si muovano in una direzione migliore …

Così se andrete avanti nella lettura per trovare risposte come: “Come fa questo tizio ad arrivare così in alto?” / “Come fa a viaggiare tanto?”/”Sei mai stato ammanettato o fulminato?”/”Verresti a dipingere casa mia?”/”Come fai a dipingere grandi murales con gli spray?” / “Che tecnica usi e di quali colori hai bisogno?”/ “Che materiali usi per le frecce e come le realizzi?” Vi deluderemo. SA: Parlaci del tuo lavoro...perchè hai deciso di portare avanti questo progetto?
A: “Avendo completato recentemente un tour di 6 mesi nell'America Sud-Centrale in cui ho eseguito pitture Word/Play (con giochi di parole), la mia attenzione ha seguito una transizione salutare attraverso l'immaginario figurativo. Questi nuovi stencil sono capiti universalmente e liberi dalle barriere del linguaggio che spesso ti fa perdere dentro la traduzione. Quando ero a Lisbona, in Portogallo, 3 mesi fa, ho incontrato una signora senza casa che chiedeva l'elemosina tutti i giorni. Ho trovato tristemente ironico che proprio lì vicino ci fosse uno sportello bancomat dove la gente faceva la coda per prelevare i soldi. Quest'ovvia contrapposizione visuale tra il  “Ricco” e il  “Povero”, che stanno in una così spinta prossimità, mi ha ispirato questo stencil "Stealing from the rich, and giving to the poor".
Mi sono state offerte tantissime opportunità di esporre in importanti gallerie da tutto il mondo, ma trovo ancora la mia vera passione ed il mio interesse principale nel mettere i miei lavori in strada. Il valore dell'essere artista, per me, non è soltanto nell'ogetto finale del mio lavoro, ma nel processo e nel viaggio dalla concezione iniziale dell'idea fino allo stadio finale che è l'incanto. Le persone incontrate lungo la strada, le varie città e nazioni visitate, il fatto che le strade sono selvagge e graziosamente brutte, le situazioni (sia positive che negative) che si creano ponendo in essere le mie opere d'arte per strada illegalmente, costituiscono un'attrazione per me. Molta gente non capirà tutto questo, ma va bene. A ciascuno il suo.

SA: Alcuni tuoi pensieri sulla situazione attuale dei poveri e dei ricchi in questo mondo.
ABOVE: Penso che il mondo avrà sempre persone povere e ricche mischiate assieme. Comunque non penso che non sia possibile aiutare e coinvolgere coloro che non hanno risorse ed opportunità per migliorare la loro situazione, se lo vogliono. Non tutti i “Poveri” sono cattive persone. Ci sono molte persone e famiglie che sono sotto la linea di povertà che non hanno abbastanza aiuti o risorse che li aiutino a migliorare.

SA: Qualcosa sul tuo punto di vista a proposito dell'attuale situazione politica nella tua terra
ABOVE: La mia ragazza ed io abbiamo detto che se McCain avesse vinto le elezioni presidenziali noi saremmo andati via dagli Stati Uniti per i quattro anni del suo mandato. E' una grossa affermazione ed è successo che gli Stati Uniti sono stati capaci di svegliarsi ed eleggere qualcuno come Obama che è "umano", ed ha l'obiettivo e il desiderio di uscire dai guai che gli altri presidenti gli hanno lasciato. Sarà veramente una lunga strada da recuperare ma c'e' molto ottimismo nell'aria per fortuna.

SA: Situazione sociale dei poveri
A: Non conosco le esatte statistiche ma lo vedo ogni giorno quando vado da qualche parte che c'e' un sacco di gente che ha bisogno di aiuto ed assistenza. In quasi ogni città con più di 50.000 abitanti puoi trovare una SOUP KITCHEN (che prepara e cucina cibo per i senza tetto) così come un rifugio per i senzatetto, per le persone che non hanno una casa o un letto dove dormire. Penso che per una città/comunità sarebbe fantastico se piu' persone volessero offrirsi e sentirsi coinvolte donando il loro tempo, assistenza, denaro o cibo.

SA: Disoccupati e tutti quelli che non hanno una voce
A: Sento che come artista sono stato capace di commentare questo contrasto sociale ad esempio attraverso lo stencil che ho dipinto sul muro di Lisbona in Portogallo. Come essere umano mi sono sentito spinto verso il passo successivo e mi sono impegnato nella creazione di una stampa Giclee dalla foto e nella cessione del 100% dei fondi raccolti a due rifugi per senzatetto! Questa foto e la sua stampa sono molto belle per la composizione, l'espressione del volto, il commento visuale! Con nuove speranze molte persone saranno coinvolte in questo progetto benefico ed aiuteranno i senzatetto comprando una bella stampa da mettere sui loro muri per ricordare loro quanto la vita possa essere graziosamente brutta certe volte. Partecipa anche tu!

ABOVE : In un modo simile a quello di “Robin Hood” sto prendendo un ruolo attivo nell'aiutare i meno fortunati. Sto vendendo la stampa “ GIVING TO THE POOR” ad un costo accessibile sperando di coinvolgere piu' gente possibile in questo progetto.Il 100% di tutti i profitti sarà donato ad entrambi questi rifugi per senzatetto. Ho selezionato accuratamente questi rifugi sulla base del loro ruolo attivo nella comunità dei senzatetto. Ognuno dei rifugi è stato scelto tra gli altri perchè accetta e si sforza di aiutare i senzatetto senza fare discriminationi RELIGIOSE, RAZZIALI, POLITICHE- O SESSUALE- ORIENTAZIONE.
