The company DanceAble of Giarre (CT) opens the fifth edition of “Alle parole nostre”2010, review of research and experimental theatre of Teatro del Baglio in Villafrati. The group, which in the previous edition had offered to the public of the same theatre “Libertad”, taken from “The House of Bernarda Alba” by Garcia Lorca, with great success in terms of numbers and rating, this year presents “Isola 2” (Island 2), its new work of dance&theatre. The show takes us on a journey through Sicily, as it was and still is like, showing without a court implied, all the elements of a more intimate and intimately Sicilian dance and a Sicilian surface, gesticulated, insoluble linked to folk culture, where the gesture becomes code and then returns to dance. The island has it all: myths, heroes, martyrs, poets and their poems, pupi (puppets), “Sciarre” (litigation) and again cities, temples, cathedrals, clichés deliberately juxtaposed without distinctions, to fruit cannoli and cassata. An entire island is defiantly stirred in a large cauldron which an auctioneer offers to the tune of Meredith Monk. An alchemical work, as is “Work”, the composition of Giovanni Sollima, on whose notes come alive and dance the fragile earthy creatures, perhaps ancient Greek statues, mingling with the other elements, air, water, fire, too they are full of fascinating contradictions. The land is arid and is also generous and generative. The air “with his power dissolves the thoughts and grows with its heat and storm”, as Carmen Consoli sings in the idiom of the island, giving us “Strade parallele”(parallel road), a delightful combination of Franco Battiato. Water is water of the sea that lets Sicily being as an island , with all that that entails, the same sea that puts Sicily in the center of the Mediterranean, making it a land of trade before the conquest. The fire is that Prometheus steals the gods and gave it to men and is the focus of Vulcan, god ugly and lame, rejected by the gods, he founded his workshop beneath the earth, forging metals and an entire society. And with a Vulcan- Medusa beautifully choreographed, synthesis and symbol of this island life and destructive, explosive and occult ends the journey, the earthy creatures bow to the public and become again women and men of this golden island.

La compagnie DanzAbile de Giarre (dans la province de Catagne) ouvre la 5ème édition de Alle Parole nostre 2010, festival de théâtre de recherche et d'expérimentation du Teatro del Baglio de Villafrati. Le groupe, qui lors de la précédente édition avait présenté avec grand succès «Libertad», tiré de «La maison de Bernarda Alba» de Garcia Lorca, présente cette année «Isola 2», son nouveau travail de théâtre-danse. Le spectacle nous emmène dans un voyage à travers la Sicile, comme elle était et comme elle est encore, en nous montrant, sans jugement implicite, tous les éléments d’une sicilianité plus intime et intimement dansée et d’une sicilianité de surface, gesticulée, liée insolublement au folklore, où le geste devient code puis redevient danse. Sur l’île il y a tout : les mythes, les héros, les poètes et leurs vers, les «pupi», les «sciarre» (embrouilles) et encore les villes, les temples, les cathédrales, les «lieux communs» volontairement assortis, sans distinctions, aux fruits, aux «cannoli» et aux «cassate» (pâtisseries siciliennes, N.d.T.). Une île entière est mixée avec provocation dans un grand chaudron , qu’un crieur public nous offre sur les notes de Meredith Monk. C’est une œuvre alchimique, de même que «Work», l’œuvre de Giovanni Sollima, sur les notes duquel s’animent et dansent les fragiles créatures de terre, peut-être d' anciennes statues grecques, en se mêlant aux autres éléments, air, eau, feu, eux aussi denses de fascinantes contradictions. La terre est aride et elle est aussi généreuse et générante. L’air avec sa puissance dissout les pensées et avec sa chaleur souffle et nous tourmente, comme Carmen Consoli chantant dans le dialecte de l’île «Strade Parallele» de Franco Battiato. L’eau est celle de la mer qui fait de la Sicile une île, avec ce que cela comporte, la même mer qui la mets au centre de la méditerranée, en la rendant plus une terre d’échanges que de conquêtes. Le feu est celui que Prométhée vole aux dieux pour l’offrir aux hommes et c’est le feu de Vulcain, dieu laid et boiteux qui, rejeté par les divinités, crée son atelier sous terre, en forgeant les métaux et une société entière. Et avec un Vulcain/Méduse splendidement chorégraphiés, synthèse e symbole de cette île vitale et destructive, explosive et occulte, se termine le voyage, les créatures de terre s’inclinent au public e redeviennent femmes et hommes de cette île dorée.

Il gruppo, che nella precedente edizione aveva offerto al pubblico del teatro “Libertad”, tratto da “La casa di Bernarda Alba” di Garcia Lorca, riscuotendo grande successo in termini numerici e di gradimento, quest’anno presenta “Isola 2”, il suo nuovo lavoro di teatro-danza. Lo spettacolo ci accompagna in un viaggio attraverso la Sicilia, come era e come ancora è, mostrandoci, senza un giudizio implicito, tutti gli elementi di una sicilianità più intima e intimamente danzata e di una sicilianità di superficie, gesticolata, legata insolubilmente al folklore, dove il gesto si fa codice e poi ridiventa danza. Sull’isola c’è tutto: i miti, gli eroi, i martiri, i poeti e i loro versi, i pupi, le “sciarre” (liti) e ancora le città, i templi, le cattedrali, i “luoghi comuni”, volutamente accostati, senza distinzioni, a frutti, cannoli e cassate. Un’intera isola è provocatoriamente rimescolata in un grande calderone, che un banditore ci offre sulle note di Meredith Monk. E’ un’opera alchemica, così come lo è “Work”, l’opera di Giovanni Sollima, sulle cui note si animano e danzano le fragili creature di terra, forse antiche statue greche, mescolandosi agli altri elementi, aria, acqua, fuoco, anch’essi densi di affascinanti contraddizioni. La terra è arida e pure è generosa e generante. L’aria con la sua potenza scioglie i pensieri e col suo calore cresce e tormenta, come Carmen Consoli canta nell’idioma dell’isola, restituendoci Strade parallele, deliziosa composizione di Franco Battiato. L’acqua è quella del mare che fa della Sicilia un’isola, con ciò che questo comporta, lo stesso mare che la pone al centro del mediterraneo, facendone una terra di scambi prima che di conquiste. Il fuoco è quello che Prometeo ruba agli dèi per donarlo agli uomini ed è il fuoco di Vulcano, dio brutto e zoppo che, rifiutato dalle divinità, fonda la sua officina sotto terra, forgiando i metalli e una società intera. E con un Vulcano/Medusa splendidamente coreografato, sintesi e simbolo di questa isola vitale e distruttiva, esplosiva ed occulta, si conclude il viaggio, le creature di terra si inchinano al pubblico e ridiventano donne e uomini di questa isola d’oro.
