The 29th Salon du Livre, France’s largest book fair, will take place from March 13th-18th. The focus of this year’s book fair is Mexico. A vibrant pavilion designed by the architect Bernardo Gómez-Pimienta will host 40 prominent Mexican authors along with the nation’s most important publishing houses. Roughly 30 translations of works that offer a window onto contemporary Mexico are being published in honor of the event.

The fair will be divided into six themes: the "Place des Livres," a concourse area dedicated to the current literary scene and its authors; the "Club Jeunesse," showcasing 20 Mexican illustrators; the "Bar des sciences," with astronomy as this year’s theme; the "Escale bd/manga" will offer a retrospective of the last 7 years of comics and manga in France; “Lectures de dem@in,” will investigate the digital revolution’s impact on the book trade; and the "Lecteur Studio" will offer the public a chance to record their reading at a professional level under the guidance of Isabelle Rabineau, the resident director.

Il 29˚ Salon du Livre, la manifestazione francese più importante dedicata al libro e all’editoria, si svolge a Parigi dal 13 al 18 marzo. Ospite d’onore del 2009 è il Messico. L’architetto Bernardo Gómez-Pimienta ha realizzato un padiglione dinamico dove 40 autori messicani e le più importanti case editrici della nazione avranno la possibilità di essere esposti. Circa 30 traduzioni di varie opere che offrono una esaustiva visuale sul Messico contemporaneo sono state pubblicata per commemorare questo evento.

La manifestazione sarà divisa in sei temi: il "Place des livres", un atrio dedicato alla scena letteraria attuale; il "Club jeunesse" mostrerà 20 illustratori messicani, il "Bar des sciences" avrà come suo tema centrale l’Astronomia; "l’Escale bd/manga" offrirà una retrospettiva degli ultimi 7 anni della storia dei fumetti e manga in Francia; "Lectures de dem@in" investigherà l’impatto della rivoluzione digitale sul mondo dei libri; e il "Lecteur studio" offrirà l'opportunità al pubblico di registrare la lettura al livello professionale sotto la guida di Isabelle Rabineau, la direttrice residente.
