Since she graduated from the the University of California, Berkeley in 2005 with a double major in English Literature and Landscape Architecture, Cassandra Funsten has aimed to use her interdisciplinary and inter-language skills to facilitate written and visual communication and interchange between the humanities, sciences and arts as well as creating more legible landscapes for the general public.
In Palermo she has enjoyed cooperating with the University’s Botanical Sciences Department and Botanical Garden as a translator and graphic designer, with the 14th century abbey at Gangivecchio helping to create a nature trail and guide to the local flora, the city of Trapani where she designed a series of permanent panels for their central park, the Villa Margherita, explaining the structure, history and flora of the site to the public, and with the Maria Adelaide middle school where she guided students in a similar endeavor.
