Reheat is an annual interdisciplinary festival. Reheat is an annual interdisciplinary festival and takes place at "Kleylehof" near the hungarian border in Nickelsdorf/Austria. This years edition will be on August 18th 2012.
The subtitle "Besser als wie man denkt" translates roughly as "better than how you think" and refers to the book "Blödmaschinen - Die Fabrikation der Stupidität" (approximately "machines of imbecility - the fabrication of stupidity") by Markus Metz and Georg Seeßlen. In this book, Metz & Seeßlen investigate political, cultural and media-realities of our time which seem to be nerved by an all-embracing imperative of stupidity - even for the brightest and most critical people. The stupid one sees something, but doesn't reason anything and therefore cedes the chance to control or criticise it.
This form of stupidity is not claimed by any dark power (e.g. to prevent intelligent people) but rather part of a mainstream that has left the control of power's actors. This mainstream even retroacts on power. An effect that (paradoxically) doesn't create freedom, but rather a more and more effective "control-society"
We (the reheat team) have chosen 43 (very subjective) phrases from "Blödmaschinen" as titles for this years REHEAT edition. We call for applications that choose one of the entries from this list as a title for an artistic performance, lecture, installation or concert. The titles are meant to be an inspiration and don't have to be an exact guidline, nor do the artworks necessarily have to deal with the text of "Blödmaschinen".
