I am an Italian drawer and I think that drawing has been always innate in me.
As for example listening to music and I do it always and I can not stop it.
And I need it, I need drawing, truly.
Usually I begin from a suggestion, from a glance, or a remind.
For example from reminds that become more precise, in that moment I take a sheet of paper.
I remember that face, that expression, that place, and I take it on a sheet.
Usually I put down 2 or 3 fast lines, then I define it with precision.
Sometimes I do not use a lot f pencil lines, but I refine things with Indian link.
I draw lots of things: people, known faces, what I see around me.
Some people ask me why I draw often women, and this is because I meet them very often in train.
Other are friends, other missed relationships.
Some belong to the past, some to the present.
I want to give a true, sincere imagine of them, as I see them.
In order to make a remind of it, also full of melancholy, but always sincere and without compromises.
And I draw lots and lots of women.
Then, one of them had a chance and began a book.
Secsi Irina, a young woman from Rome suburbs.
A suburbian and ignorant counselor that gives counsels to her public.
I think that she represents my actual vision of life and world.
I mean: you should take life in frivolity, because you must front this actual world, that is full of consumerism.
Without regrets of the direction we are taking (I speak about Italy) , but using irony.
This is my vision of reality.
And sometimes, depending from what I would tell, I change radically the drawing.
Often, for the book of Secsi Irina, I used a cartoonist line.
So that one can read better the stories.
Because a realistic sing could have gone astray.
In other cases, for ex. for portraits I use “dirty” signs.
Other times I draw directly with colour.
Now, for me, as I said, drawing is similar to music.
I cannot live without hearing songs all the day.
And every song has a different style.
Then Secsi Irina is as Italo Disco of the 80 years.
Portraits can be as Ramones.
Or also as Deborah Harry with Blondie: ironic sometimes, but also dramatic.
I have chosen drawing.
As a life choice.
And, as a song, it must be always different.
I try not to annoy me but to be emotioned.
And I can do it listening to Knack or T-Rex.
Or, in case of drawings, with grotesque or dramatic lines.
White and black or coloured.
And this is truly life.
My vision of life.
Lots of shades, lots of different signs.
Lots of different styles.

Sono un disegnatore italiano e penso che disegnare sia una cosa che è sempre stata innata in me.
Come ascoltare la musica del resto: lo faccio da sempre e non potrei farne a meno.
Ed è il non poterne fare a meno, di questo disegnare.
Di solito parto da una suggestione, da uno sguardo.
Oppure da un ricordo.
Ecco, i ricordi che poi si definiscono un po' meglio e allora prendo un foglio.
Mi ricordo quel viso, quell'espressione, quel luogo, e la metto su carta.
Di solito schizzo velocemente due o tre linee, e poi vado a definire sempre di più.
Certe volte non uso neanche tantissime tracce a matita, ma vado a rifinire moltissime cose a china.
E disegno tante cose: persone, facce conosciute, quello che vedo intorno a me.
In tanti mi chiedono come mai disegno molto spesso le donne:
beh, molte sono persone che ho incrociato in un treno.
Altre sono amicizie, e incontri mancati.
Altre fanno parte del passato, altre del presente.
E mi ritrovo a volerne dare una immagine autentica, cioè sincera, di come le vedo io.
Per fabbricarmi un ricordo, magari annebbiato dalla nostalgia, ma sempre sincero e senza compromessi.
E mi capita di disegnarne tante, tantissime.
Poi, una di queste ha avuto una chance in più ed è diventata un libro.
Secsi Irina, una coatta della periferia di Roma.
Una consulente incolta e borgatara che dispensa consigli a chi le scrive.
Credo che incarni un po' la mia visione della vita e del mondo di oggi.
Ovvero:
la vita la dovresti cercar di prendere alla leggera.
Perchè il mondo di oggi, con tutto questo consumismo e vasi cinesi vuoti e belli, lo devi affrontare.
Senza rammaricarti su dove stiamo andando (e ti parlo dell'Italia), ma ironizzandoci sopra.
Questa è la mia visione delle cose.
E certe volte, in base a cosa voglio raccontare, cambio totalmente il segno.
Spesso, per il libro di Secsi Irina, ho usato un segno quasi cartoonesco.
Proprio per far leggere meglio le storie.
Perchè un segno più realistico sarebbe stato fuorviante.
Invece, in altri casi, ad esempio nei ritratti, uso delle pennellate più sporche.
Altre volte disegno direttamente col colore.
Ora, ricollegandomi a quello che dicevo sul disegno:
per me è come la musica.
Non potrei vivere senza sentire canzoni tutto il giorno.
E ogni canzone ha uno stile diverso.
E allora Secsi Irina è come la Italo Disco degli anni 80.
I ritratti possono essere come i Ramones.
O anche come Deborah Harry con i Blondie: ironica, a volte, drammatica in altri casi.
Il disegno l'ho scelto.
Come una scelta di vita.
E, come una canzone, deve essere sempre diverso.
Cerco di non annoiarmi, di emozionarmi.
E posso farlo ascoltando gli Knack o i T-Rex.
O, nel caso dei disegni, con una pennellata dal segno grottesco o drammatico.
In bianco e nero o a colori.
Che poi è la vita.
La mia visione della vita.
Mille sfumature, mille segni diversi.
Mille stili differenti.
