New Comedy Nights set to clean up in Leeds
New comic nights look set to clean up in leeds, as comedy with a conscience comes to The Carriageworks in Leeds.

The line between what’s funny and going too far looks to have been permanently altered after Brand and Ross’s antics on BBC Radio 2 last month.

However, with the launch of new comedy nights in Leeds, organisers are promising plenty of clean laughs at no-one’s expense.

The new comic evenings start with The Great Big Christmas Stand Up Show – on December 17th at the HiFi Club in Leeds - before the Clean as Possible Comedy Nights head over to The Carriageworks for their monthly new show starting from January 2009.

The Clean as Possible Comedy Nights are organised by Just Fair Laughs – who provide socially aware comedy with a conscience. Just Fair Laughs aim to bring the best in stand-up, drawing upon a vast network of the top comedians throughout the UK.

Cllr John Procter, Executive Member for Leisure, said:

“The Clean as Possible Comedy Nights at The Carriageworks are a really exciting new event. I’m sure they’ll prove a great success in attracting lovers of laughter from across Leeds to the Millennium Square theatre .”

The Great Big Christmas Stand Up Show starts with a bang with a headlining set by award winning female comic Jo Enright – whose impressive credits include appearances in TV comedies Phoenix Nights and I’m Alan Partridge.

The evenings of clean comedy continue into 2009 as the Clean as Possible Comedy Nights team up with The Carriageworks to bring the talents of Dave Twentyman, Roger Monkhouse and Jamie Sutherland - three of the UK’s top up and coming comic talents - to Leeds.

Tony Vino, Host of the Clean as Possible Comedy Nights, said:

“We are really excited about the upcoming comedy nights in Leeds. We started out in Leeds back in the early part of 2005 with a comedy night at Holy Trinity Cafe on Boar Lane.

“Since then the agency has grown with regular nights now running across the UK spreading from Truro on the South Coast to as far north as Kendal. This is in many ways is a home-coming for us.”

Tickets for The Clean as possible Comedy Nights are available online now by visiting www.carriageworkstheatre.org.uk, or by calling the box office on 0113 224 3801.
