A review on works by Italian artists
A collaborative exchange between Rome and Berlin. 26cc an Italian no-profit space for arts, presents a new project in the artist-run space 91mQ, opened in July by Elena Bellantoni and Marco Giani, two Berlin-based Italian artists. STUDIOVISIT is a survey on works by young artists, that focuses on relevant researches by international young artists as well as on Italy's emerging scene, using the typical dynamics of the encounter between artist and curator. Artists do present their works directly in the spaces where those are created, with an approach that is closer to a documentation rather than a traditional interview. We believe this approach encourages a direct knowledge of the works by these artists and invites to analysis, in a way where artists confront directly with the public by giving an overview of their production. STUDIOVISIT is the first public presentation of a project that will embrace the emerging scene in a widest view, with the aim to favour information and knowledge in various contexts through public presentation events. The artists included in the first presentation of STUDIOVISIT are: Donatella Spaziani, Alessandro Scarabello, Luana Perilli, Marco Fedele di Catrano, Marco Raparelli e Valentino Diego.
The Berliner presentation of STUDIOVISIT coincides with 26cc's and 91mQ’s participation within the International Forum Art-Swap Europe, organized by IGBK in the Akademie der Kunste, where a consistent number of independent and artist-run organizations will gather together to focus on international exchanges, in two days of conferences, meetings and presentations aimed to create new perspectives for collaborations on a European scale.
26cc is an independent space born by initiative and reflections of a group of young artists and curators, with the will to propose and promote contemporary culture on the basis of sharing, discussion of ideas and paths and active collaborations with other similar institutions throughout Europe. The project space 91mQ is situated in a former brewery in East Berlin. 91mQ places the artist at the heart of the contemporary art debate. The aim of the project is to create links with other sites within the art world. 91mQ believes in art as a line of thought that is vital to our understanding of the development of the world in which we live.
