The Homburg castle, a half-timbered building of the 16th century, was built on a tuff rock over the Burkardus den. The den, the germ cell of the village, is the destination of a solemn procession which takes place every year on the 12th of October in honour of St. Burkardus, Würzburg’s first bishop. With its free view over the vineyards around the Main, the castle dominates the Homburg village and since 1998 has become a center of contemporary arts.

Twelve artists are going to animate the castle and the Homburg village for four weeks. Inspired by the unique atmosphere of this site, they will show their works in the various sceneries presented by the ancient castle of the Gebsattel house: the palace, the chapel, the den, the goat meadow, the tower, the St. Burkardus church, the Julius Echter square, the flags, the cellar, the courtyard.

Schloss, Kapelle, Grotte, Ziegenwiese, Schlosswiese, Turm, Kirche St. Burkardus, Julius-Echter-Platz, Fahnen, Schlosskeller, Schlosshof
