Les Urbaines 2013 - 17th Edition
Three days of contemporary art projects, transgressions, and alternatives. A constellation of more than fifty projects – shows and performances, visual arts or concerts – in dozens of places, free of charge. With it’s unique formula, Les Urbaines occupies a now well established place in the world of contemporary art – that of a public laboratory, as joyful as it is necessary. This recognition wouldn’t be possible without constantly taking new risks, year after year. Necessary to satisfy the sharp curiosity of the public. Needed for the visibility of new artistic emergences, their network, and their future development.

Les Urbaines possesses a sensitive intelligence which is fundamental in our society. Rather than explaining, it transmits. Rather than saying, it questions. Rather than understanding, it feels. At the huge hall of the Future Pôle muséal, DémArt and Tilt, dense and heterogeneous exhibitions, based on the rhizomatic networks of offspaces which account for the dynamism of the Swiss scene. At the newly refurbished Arsenic and Sévelin 36, a performing arts program that alternates poetry, provocation, and protest. At the Romandie , the Bourg, the Dacha, and mudac , a series of concerts and unusual and exciting sonic performances. At the Museum of Fine Arts, finally, something more analytical. Organized in partnership with the Federal Office of Culture, Post Digital Cultures Symposium aims to rethink the relationship between art and new media with the best of international artists and curators.
