IMAGO DEI. MUSIC AT EASTER
SALT OF THE EARTH - LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Every year, the festival for old and contemporary music at the early Gothic Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche in Krems/Stein (Austria) takes up various themes from the Easter ritual. In 2012, IMAGO DEI moves around the Sermon on the Mount, the religious key text of the New Testament, whose veritable and revolutionary contents changed and coined living worlds, orientations, and cultures in the most sustainable way.
Among others, we have planned concerts of the LATVIAN RADIO CHOIR (“Lux Aeterna” by György Ligeti), the JUNGE PHILHARMONIE WIEN (with works by Schubert, Mahler, and Webern; soloist: Adrian Eröd). KAYHAN KALHOR (Iran) & ERDAL ERZINCAN (Turkey) are among the guests expected at the Klangraum, as well as CHŒUR de SAINT YARED & ALEMU AGA from Ethiopia. One festival weekend will be dedicated to KOREA (e.g. featuring the composer YOUNGHI PAGH-PAAN, the pansori singer IHO AHN, the KOREAN MUSIC PROJECT, as well as a premiere of the Austrian-Korean project makroPHONIA by Renald Deppe and Michael Bruckner-Weinhuber. On Palm Sunday, A SLOW BOAT TO CHINA will take you on a musical boat trip through the Wachau region: accompanied by HANNES LOESCHEL and his ensemble EXIT EDEN feat. PHIL MINTON and a literary-musical stop at the famous monastery of Melk with the poet REINER KUNZE and traditional Korean music played by KOREAN MUSIC PROJECT. (in co-operation with Weltkulturerbe Wachau).
A concert of the double bass ensemble LUDUS GRAVIS follows on Good Friday.
Like every year, the festival will close with a celebrated international old music ensemble on Easter Monday: in 2012, IMAGO DEI will host LA REVERDIE & ACCORDONE.
