Dublin Writers Festival May 23-29 2011
The Dublin Writers Festival is Ireland’s premier literary event celebrating the very best of Irish and International Writers.
The Dublin Writers Festival provides a unique opportunity for audiences to experience high quality live literature through readings, discussions and talks.
Featuring 43 writers from 12 countries over 7 days around Dublin, this year’s Festival presents writers of international renown.
Some of the world’s greatest travel and feature writers are coming to Dublin. Paul Theroux will be making a rare Dublin appearance as will Colin Thubron and Michael Palin will be appearing at the National Concert Hall.
Dublin is one of only four cities worldwide to have been designated a UNESCO City of Literature. The Festival is delighted to celebrate this accolade with Edinburgh, Iowa City and Melbourne, the sister Cities of Literature. This year’s programme features the special events The Jekyll and Hyde Inheritance – with Edinburgh; Paul Harding and John Boyne in Legacy, Craft, Devotion – with Iowa City; and The Indie Scene on independent publishing – with Melbourne.
Dublin Writers Festival is an initiative of Dublin City Council Arts Office, supported by The Arts Council.
