Het Amsterdam Fringe Festival bevindt zich in de rafelranden van het jaarlijkse Nederlands Theater Festival en ontstond vijf jaar geleden als antwoord op de officiële theaterselectie. Het Amsterdam Fringe Festival is gebaseerd op de beroemde en succesvolle Fringe Festivals zoals deze bestaan in bijvoorbeeld Edinburgh, Adelaide, Praag en New York.

The festival with the most varied contacts is spreading over the city with politically kinetic theatre, sweet-voiced punk, poetic rock violence, self-torturing quests for honesty, inside-out migration theatre, international gems and an uninhibited love. Featuring this year, not only performances from the Netherlands and Flanders but also from New York, South Africa, Prague and Poland. In short: a new reason for the citizen of Amsterdam to stay put & for anybody else to come and explore the fringes of theatre and the city between 2 and 12 September.
