STEFANO GIACCONE Italian but born in Los Angeles, (USA) 1959, moved to Torino, Italy 1966. Since summer ’98 he is living in UK, London first and Wales now. Self trained, Stefano plays sax, guitar and sings. Stefano started playing in 1973, following lots of different musical fields since then: folk-rock to jazz, punk to avant-garde rock, playing hundreds of gigs all over Italy and many European countries (Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, France, Denmark, UK...) and has performed regularly either with bands and as a solo artist. His musical career developed inside the independent and underground scene, but nonetheless reviewed and appreciated by the music critic, he is regarded as one of the most influential songwriters since his leading role in the Italian music scene of the eighties as founder of FRANTI, the record label BLUBUS and a 3 years engagement with KINA, one of italian best known punk bands. His collaboration with LALLI, the former singer of Franti, gave birth to several projects such as Ishi and Howth Castle which supported the US band Sonic Youth in Milan/Italy and toured with Judas 2, former Crass members. The 2nd Howth Castle's album has been released on vynil in the US and the third is due next year. In 1995 Stefano, as a duo with pianist Claudio Villiot, toured and published his “jazz-reading” play called “Corpi Sparsi”. This gave him the opportunity to play for two seasons in a row in “Addio papa’ respiro”, Teatro dell’Elfo’s (Italy’s biggest company of modern theatre), dedication to the late Allen Ginsberg, poet of the Beat Generation. In 1998 Stefano released his first solo album, “Le stesse cose ritornano”, using the art name of Tony Buddenbrook, receiving excellent reviews in Italy (voted amongst the Top 5 CDs released that year) Since then Stefano has been working at a trilogy of mini CDs, "The blue color". They have been published in 1999 and 2001, the second of them, "The difficult Land" being a dedication to the scottish poet Edwin Muir. They all have some collaboration with britsh musician. An indipendent label based in London, Jonson Family, has published a single of his songs. Santeria, the Florence based label, released his last album, “Tutto quello che vediamo...” in March 2003, recorded partly in UK (with collaboration by Clive Painter-Broken Dogs and Dylan Fowler) and partly in Italy, produced by Perturbazione's Gigi Giancursi. Stefano, Dylan Fowler and Mario Congiu, a well known musician and producer, had toured Italy and Switzerland in april/may 2003 to promote the album. The new one, all covers of Italian songwriters, is due in March 2004 and has been arranged by Mario Congiu. Stefano is playing both in Italy and UK in folk clubs as a solo-act or with Dylan Fowler.
