SEVEN INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARIES FOR A NEW PERSPECTIVE IN GENDER IDENTITY.
The Rome Gender DocuFilm Fest is an answer to the desire to address the innumerable issues related to gender identity. Stretching the boundaries of transexualism and homosexuality, our festival aims to build a wider and more fluid vision of our bodies and our social roles, questioning the binary logic of male/female stereotypes.
In this third edition, the GDFF expands its scope to other forms of art and communication: the promotional video is a conceptual work by designer Giuseppe Randazzo about the reengineering and the transmutation of the sexual, physical, mental identity, through the collision and confrontation with the external reality.
During the opening evening, Julien Touati, director of the 2011 Jury Award winner documentary Kathakali, presents for the first time in Italy his dance solo Anywhere I lay my head, a show where eastern and western cultures merge, where masculinity and feminity are superimposed freely. An unusual wandering between two cultures, two genders and two arts.
On the second evening, director Jonathan Skurnik gives a lecture about gender nonconforming teenagers, a controversial and relatively new topic in Italy.

Il Gender DocuFilm Fest è il primo festival in Italia a raccontare le forme mutevoli dell'identità di genere. Ampliando i confini del transessualismo e dell'omosessualità, il festival vuole costruire una visione più aperta e malleabile dei nostri corpi e dei nostri ruoli sociali, mettendo in discussione la logica binaria del maschile/femminile.
Giunto alla sua terza edizione, il GDFF si apre ad altre forme artistiche e comunicative: il video promozionale è un'opera in grafica generativa del designer Giuseppe Randazzo sulla costruzione e la trasmutazione dell'identità sessuale, mentale e fisica del soggetto, attraverso il confronto e a volte la collisione con la realtà esterna.
Nella serata inaugurale, Julien Touati, regista del film vincitore 2011 Kathakali, presenta in anteprima italiana il suo spettacolo Ovunque poggi la mia testa, un assolo di danza in cui oriente e occidente, arte e recitazione, corpo maschile e corpo femminile si fondono liberamente.
A inizio della seconda serata, il regista Jonathan Skurnik terrà un seminario su Adolescenti e identità di genere per presentare un quadro ampio su un tema controverso e ancora poco conosciuto, specialmente in Italia.
